Alexander Olivieri (they/he) is a performer, choreographer and dance filmmaker based in Oklahoma City. AO currently is an Assistant Professor of Dance at the University of Central Oklahoma, teaching contemporary approaches to modern dance, dance film, dance science courses and creative dance making. Additionally, their live performance, video art, film and choreography have been a part of numerous concerts and festivals both nationally and internationally, such as American Dance Festival – Movies by Movers, Dance Film Association at Lincoln Center and Thessaloniki Cinedance Festival to name a few. As a performer, Olivieri was a company member with the New York City-based dance company, 10 Hairy Legs, and his freelance credits include performing with Christopher Williams’s Dance, Yoshito Sakuraba’s Abarukas, Mike Esperanza’s BARE Dance Company, Shawn Bible Dance Company, Barkin & Selissen Projects, LaneCoarts, Chris Masters and Jackie Nowicki’s NOW Dance Project. They’ve taught masterclasses at several universities and professional company’s such as RACE Dance Collective, Perpetual Motion, and American College Dance Association’s Central Conference, as well as inliberomovimento summer dance festival in Borgo San Lorenzo, Italy. His research has been published in the International Journal of Screendance, and he and Hui Cha Poos are currently co-directing/choreographing BONDED: Taking Back Agency for RACE Dance Collective’s The RACEY Show in June 2024.
